St George's, University of London is one of the oldest medical schools in the UK and a constituent college of the University of London. It is currently ranked in the top 200 world universities and has a reputation for excellence in medical education. Like TJU it focuses exclusively on health care, with students studying medicine, nursing, midwifery and the full range of allied health professionals. St George's is working closely with TJU around international medical education and research. It has particular research strengths in infection and immunity, cardiovascular disease, and population health science. It shares the same buildings in south west London as St George’s Hospital, originally founded in 1733 and one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK on a single site. The hospital serves a markedly diverse population of 3.4 million people and offers the full range of acute clinical specialties with regional and national strengths in acute trauma, cardiac care, emergency medicine and women and children's services. Mental health services are provided by the neighbouring mental health trust and in addition there are opportunities to experience UK general practice and other community services.

Electives at St George's will appeal to students wanting experience of world leading clinical services operating within an integrated care environment, the UK National Health Service. The close relationship between hospital and medical school means that interested students can take part in the medical school's educational programmes and research meetings, as well as meeting and socialising with medical and other healthcare students from across the UK and around the world.

London is an exciting cosmopolitan city, and the centre of London is within easy reach of St George's by the London underground tube network. Paris and other cities Northern Europe are easily accessible by train from London for the more adventurous.

More information can be found at the St George's Website listed above ("Homepage").

Jefferson students may apply for a one month rotation in April of the final year of studies at SKMC. Students should look at the St Georges website to seek rotations of interest, and explain why they are seeking one of those slots.

For AY 2016-2017, the application must be completed by October 10, 2016.
