About
Child Family Health International (CFHI) is the leading non-governmental organization (NGO) placing students and recent graduates on short-term global health experiences in ways that are socially responsible and financially just. We model best practices in international education, demonstrating a priority commitment to community engagement and local integrity. CFHI is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the ECOSOC of the United Nations.

CFHI currently offers over 30 community-based Global Health Education Programs in 10 countries. CFHI programs allow you to build your global health leadership, collaboration and knowledge, as well as lasting connecting with international communities. CHFi's Application Process - Getting Started (Step by Step):
- Check out CFHI's 30+ programs in 10 countries.
- Visit https://www.cfhi.org/user/register to start the online application process.
- Select your top choice program(s) and start date(s) for application.
- Complete three short-answer questions.
- Complete a brief Spanish self-evaluation (for Latin America programs only).
- Input contact information for two academic or professional references. (Be sure to ask for their permissions in advance.) Advise your references to add students@cfhi.org to their address book to ensure our reference request arrives in their inbox. References will be asked to complete a brief survey on your behalf (a formal letter of recommendation is not required).
- Submit your CFHI application online and a $95 application fee (non-refundable).

CFHI accepts applications on a rolling basis and recommends applying 3 to 6 months in advance of your program start date. Additional time should be allotted for travel to a country that requires a visa for entry or extensive immunizations/vaccinations. CFHI can usually accommodate last minute applicants year-round (45 days or less before the program arrival date). Please don’t hesitate to reach out even if the program start date is approaching.

CFHI will review your application and notify you of your status, most likely within one to two weeks. This time frame depends largely on when your application is fully complete. If your application indicates that you are likely to succeed in a Global Health Education Program, you will receive a confirmation email notifying you of your acceptance.

Special Situations (For more information, please see our FAQ page at https://www.cfhi.org/faq.)
